Bomb threats pester another 9 schools in Iloilo, Antique
After the series of bomb threats sent to at least 10 schools in the city and province of Iloilo on November 17, 2025, another nine schools were bothered by bomb threats on November 18.
One of these schools is the Central Philippine University that received the bomb threat at 7 a.m. Other schools are the University of San Agustin, Iloilo Doctor’s College, and Northern Iloilo State University in Estancia, Iloilo.
A few high schools in Iloilo City and the province also received the bomb threat, such as Iloilo City National High School, Ramon Avanceña National High School, Jalandoni Memorial National High School, and Janiuay National Comprehensive High School in Janiuay, Iloilo.
The bomb threat has reached the neighboring Province of Antique.
Saint Anthony’s College in San Jose, Antique received the bomb threat.
Aside from fear that struck parents and guardians, the series of bomb threats has caused trouble and inconvenience to school personnel and students.
“Maaga kaming gumising tapos ganito ang mangyayari. Sayang ang oras,” a parent named Mary Grace Baconguis said.
“Perwisyo talaga kasi pagdating namin dito kanina, may nagsabi sa akin na walang klase kasi may bomb threat. Ang aming car, naka-alis na,” Thelma Magabolo, a guardian, said.
According to Ariel Sumagaysay, a second-year Accountancy student at the University of San Agustin, the bomb threat has caused distress to his studies.
“Perwisyo sa amin bilang estudyante kasi since finals week namin ngayon. Medyo hassle lang dahil ma-move na naman ang schedule,” Sumagaysay said.
The series of bomb threats is being investigated by the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit (RACU) 6. The culprits have not yet been identified, and that the agency is uncertain whether they would be tracked down this week.
The use of a dummy account in sending the bomb threat has also posed a challenge.
However, the agency is confident they have the capacity to establish the identity of the perpetrator(s).
“Since nangyari siya online, marami tayong challenges. So itong mga information na natanggap natin, subject pa ito sa validation. We are exhausting all means na ma-solve itong mga kaso na mabigyan ng hustisya,” said Lt. Darius Alinsasaguin, RACU 6 spokesperson.
Further, RACU is yet to determine the motive of the threats.
“Tinitingnan rin natin na maaaring isang tao lang ito o maaari ring may nasa likod na organization na gumagawa nito,” Alinsasaguin added.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 6 has conducted a separate investigation and advised the schools to preserve the digital evidence.
“We will be submitting digital evidence sa aming office. Ipapa-analyze yan namin sa mga experts namin sa Manila,” according to Atty. Arnold Diaz, NBI 6 assistant regional director.
The Iloilo City Government has offered a P100,000 reward to persons who can provide accurate information that would lead to the identification of the culprit(s). — GMA Regional TV
