Barangay captain in Digos City shot dead during Facebook live

The captain of Barangay Tres de Mayo, Digos City, Davao del Sur was shot dead while he was going live on Facebook Tuesday evening, according to the provincial police on Wednesday. 

The victim was identified as Oscar “Dodong” Bucol Jr. 

“At around 9:00 PM on November 25, 2025, the victim was fatally shot within the premises of his residence, specifically in his garage,” the Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office said in a statement. 

“Portions of the incident were captured during his ongoing Facebook Live broadcast,” it added. 

The Digos City Police Station (CPS) responded to the area and a provincial dragnet operation was launched to capture the perpetrators. 

A Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) is set to be created for a focused, thorough, and well-coordinated investigation into the incident. 

Possible persons of interest have been identified, according to the provincial police. This is based on individuals previously mentioned by the victim in his earlier social media posts. 

Investigators and intelligence operatives are actively following all leads, police said. 

Authorities are now gathering all available CCTV footage in the vicinity of the crime scene to help the probe. 

The Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office “strongly condemned” the “brutal” shooting of Bucol. 

“The Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office assures the public and the family of Barangay Captain Bucol that every effort is being exerted to ensure that justice is served,” it said. 

“We urge the community to cooperate and provide any information that may assist in the speedy resolution of this case,” it added. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
