Digos acting police chief relieved from post amid brgy captain slay —PRO11

The Police Regional Office 11 (PRO11) said Digos City Police Station acting chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Peter Glenn Ipong has been relieved from his post amid the probe into the fatal shooting of Barangay Tres de Mayo captain Oscar “Dodong” Bucol Jr.

In a statement on Wednesday evening, the PRO11 said its director, Police Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete, ordered Ipong’s relief to ensure impartial and unhampered investigation.

“RD Rosete ordered the immediate relief of Police Lieutenant Colonel Peter Glenn Ipong, Acting Chief, Digos City Police Station, to ensure an impartial and unhampered investigation,” the PRO11 said.

“He further directed the Davao del Sur Provincial Police Office, under the leadership of Police Colonel Leo T. Ajero, Provincial Director, to conduct a thorough and comprehensive probe, which may take one to six months depending on the complexity of the case,” it added.

Rosete conducted an ocular inspection at Bucol’s residence to assess the crime scene and validate initial findings.

The PRO11 director proceeded to Bucol’s wake where he spoke privately with the victim’s father and extended condolences to the grieving family.

Rosete encouraged the community to cooperate with authorities by providing any relevant information for the investigation.

On Tuesday evening, Bucol was shot dead while he was going live on Facebook.

A total of P2 million reward is being offered to those who have information that will lead to the capture of the perpetrators behind the fatal shooting of Bucol.

Vice President Sara Duterte and Governor Yvonne Cagas committed P1 million each for the reward, according to the police.
