BARMM education official wounded in Cotabato City shooting

An official of the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) was injured after unidentified gunmen opened fire at his vehicle in Cotabato City on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

Authorities identified the victim as Tahir Guiamil Nalg, 60, director general for Madaris Education of MBHTE.

Nalg sustained a gunshot wound to his shoulder. His driver and security escort were unharmed.

He was brought to a hospital in Davao City for treatment.

Based on investigation, Nalg was on his way to the Bangsamoro Government Center when motorcycle-riding assailants attacked around 10:45 a.m. in Barangay Rosary Heights.

Investigators recovered an empty bullet shell of .45-cal. pistol from the victim's vehicle.

Police are eyeing personal grudge related to his work as the motive for the crime.

Authorities are pursuing the suspects, as of this writing. — GMA Regional TV
