7,000 take part in Baguio City’s Kilos-Protesta Kontra Katiwalaan on Nov. 30
Around 7,000 youth and sectoral representatives took part in a protest action against massive corruption as part of the commemoration of Bonifacio Day on Sunday morning.
In her report, Jasmin Gabriel-Galban of GMA Regional TV said the groups assembled at the Baguio Convention Center. From there the rallyists marched to Burnham Park where they conducted a peaceful program.
The rallyists demanded those involved in corruption in both government and the private sector to be held liable and punished for their crimes against the nation.
Several groups also expressed their opposition to mining expansion and the proposed Public-Private Partnership for the redevelopment of the Baguio City Public Market.
Members of the Baguio City Police Office were deployed to provide security and maintain the safety of the participants of the proceedings. —RF, GMA Integrated News
