Anti-corruption rally in San, Jose Antique speaks out vs gov’t neglect, environmental abuse
Several hundred people demanded that corruption, government neglect and environmental abuse should be addressed in a Bonifacio Day rally in the town of San Jose, Antique on Sunday.
The rallyists gathered at the EBJ Freedom Park at 10:00 a.m.for the “Aksyon Kontra Korapsyon”.
Organizers of the assembly aimed “to raise awareness on issues affecting communities across Antique, urging both local and national leaders to prioritize transparency, accountability, and environmental protection.”
They also called on every Antiqueño “to unite in defending the province’s welfare, livelihoods, and natural resources.”
The event emphasized that corruption and poor governance compromise public services, development initiatives, and long-term sustainability.
During the rally. community leaders and advocates delivered brief messages highlighting the urgent need for action, stressing that Antique’s progress depends on active citizen participation and stronger institutional integrity.
The group said there is a growing public sentiment demanding better governance and environmental stewardship in the province.
Organizers said more activities and dialogues will follow in the coming weeks to continue the push for reforms. —RF, GMA Integrated News
