Pasig court issues arrest warrant vs. Porac Mayor Jaime Capil
A Pasig court has issued a warrant of arrest against Porac, Pampanga Mayor Jaime Capil over graft charges.
Under the warrant dated November 28, the Pasig Regional Trial Court Branch 265 recommended a bail of P90,000 for seven counts of Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
The court directed authorities to arrest Capil at the Municipal Hall of Porac or elsewhere.
It directed the arresting authorities to use body-worn cameras and recording devices to record any relevant incidents during the serving of the warrant.
In April 2025, the Office of the Ombudsman dismissed Capil from for gross neglect of duty in connection to POGO firm Lucky South 99.
Despite his suspension, Capil won as mayor in the May 2025 elections.
Capil denied that he was in hiding.
“Kailanman, hindi sumagi sa isip ko ang tumakas, tumalikod sa aking responsibilidad at lalo na pa sagutin ang lahat ng paratang sa akin,” Capil said in a statement.
(At no point did it ever cross my mind to flee, to turn away from my responsibility, and especially not to face all the accusations against me.)
“Sasailalim po ako sa proseso. Hiling ko lang po ay ibigay sakin ang fair at due process of the law,” he added.
Capil said that his team was processing his bail earlier in the day, but that court processes must be followed.
“Bukod po doon, wala po kaming natanggap na kopya ng information, kinailangan po namin kumuha ng lahat ng clearance na kakailangan sa king pag-bail. Lahat po ng kailangan, ginagawa at sinusunod po namin ayon sa itinakdang utos ng korte,” he said.
(Apart from that, we did not receive a copy of the information, and we need to secure all the clearances required for my bail. Everything that is needed, we are doing and following according to the directive of the court.) — RSJ/NB, GMA Integrated News
