6 cops in Bacoor robbery-rape case surrender; all suspects accounted for
All the police officers allegedly involved in the robbery-rape case in Bacoor City have been accounted for with the surrender of six other cops, Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group acting director Brig. Gen Elmer Ragay said Monday.
"Around 1:30 p.m. of Nov. 27, isa-isa nang nagsurrender 'yung anim na at-large. By 5:40 p.m., kumpleto na po sila, they were all delivered to my office sa PDEG headquarters together with their family members and assisted by their legal counsels," Ragay said in a press conference.
"Accounted na lahat ng at-large," he added.
The police officers are now detained at the PNP-Headquarters Support Service. Charges of rape and robbery in band have been filed against them.
Fifteen police personnel from the PDEG Special Operation Unit 4A were relieved from their posts. Eight of the 14 cops tagged in the incident have been arrested earlier.
The commander was also relieved from his post. He allegedly filed a leave of absence from November 25 to 28, but already left his post as early as November 22.
Ragay earlier said the 14 cops supposedly conducted an anti-illegal drug operation with the victim's boyfriend as the subject. However, the suspect was supposedly able to evade arrest.
The 18-year-old victim first filed a complaint with the National Police Commission.
She said the police officers barged into her house on November 22 and robbed her, her male cousin, and his live-in partner. She also alleged that one of the policemen raped her.
The complainant said the policemen did not introduce themselves as law enforcers and did not show any documents such as search warrants before ransacking their home.
