74-year old man allegedly stabbed to death by grandson in Davao City


A 74-year old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his grandson in Davao City on Monday.

According to a Saksi report by Sarah Hilomen Velasco of GMA Regional TV on Tuesday, the fatal incident happened in the victim’s house in Sitio Camella in San Rafael Barangay 9A. 

According to the suspect’s sister, she was looking for their grandfather who was calling her for help.

“After we heard a sound, my partner and I went to check on our grandfather. I will never forget him calling out to me for help. Just as I was coming down the stairs, I saw my brother outside my grandfather's room, he was carrying two blood-stained knives,” she said.

Investigators said the victim’s body bore stab wounds on the chest and nape.  

Police are trying to determine whether the victim and the suspect had bad blood between them but the younger man allegedly made repeated threats against his grandfather.

A relative said the suspect has a mental illness. 

The victim's granddaughter said their family is having a hard time accepting what happened to their grandfather who died at the hands of a family members.  

Police said the family has decided not to file a case against the suspect, who will be taken to a hospital for medical treatment. —RF, GMA Integrated News
