Parents of passers from the recent board examinations are paying it forward by giving treats to members of their community.

According to a report on State of the Nation by Oscar Oida, in Davao City, jeepney driver Edwin Recososa plied his regular route, picking up passengers along the way, but this time, he did not collect the fare.

"Libre lang po ang sakay ngayon bilang pasasalamat dahil pumasa po ang aking anak sa Board Exam (smiley) bilang isang Civil Engineer," read the small board that passengers will see upon boarding.

Edwin was referring to his son, Dave, who has recently passed the licensure examinations for Civil Engineers.

"Iyon talaga ang naisip ko, na kung makapasa siya gusto kong magbigay din (This was what I have in mind. If my son passes the board, I want to give something back to the community)," said Edwin, who said he also dreamt of becoming an engineer.

In Cabuyao, Laguna, the youth in the neighborhood of Ricardo Dasco were treated to porridge, bread and coffee after Ricardo Dasco learned that his daughter, Kaye, passed the Nursing licensure examinations on her first try.

Kaye said she is proud of her father for sharing his happiness with their community. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
