PHIVOLCS: Taal Volcano had 2 minor phreatic eruptions

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported minor phreatic or phreato magmatic eruptions at the main crater of Taal Volcano early Thursday morning.

PHIVOLCS said the eruptions occurred at 12:58 AM and 01:04 a.m. with both lasting two minutes based on seismic and camera records.

"These events generated plumes that rose 1200 meters above the crater before drifting southwest based on the Daang Kastila (VTDK) thermal and Lower Calauit (VTLC) IP cameras. The second event was observed to have ejected incandescent ballistics 300 meters above the lake," the agency said.
