Marcos: Davao River Bridge to open on Dec. 15, 2025, seen to ease traffic

Marcos Set To Open Davao River Bridge On December 15, Easing Traffic

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr., on Thursday, announced the opening of the Bucana Bridge across the Davao River on Dec. 15.

Marcos made the announcement during his inspection of the P3.1-billion and 1.3-kilometer project funded by Official Development Assistance (ODA) from China.

The new bridge is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in downtown Davao City, offering a faster, safer, and more efficient route between Barangays 76-A Bucana and Matina Aplaya.

“Ito’y sinasabi ang estimate natin na ang biyahe na dati halos dalawang oras ay mababawasan, magiging mga 25 minutes, 20 minutes na lang,” Marcos said.

“Kaya malaking ginhawa, lalong-lalo na ngayon na magpa-Pasko tayo. Alam naman natin nangyayari sa traffic,” he added.

“Malaking ginhawa ito,  lalong-lalo na ngayon na magpapasko tayo. We will open the bridge on the 15th. Matatapos ‘yung buong bypass by December 2027,” Marcos said.

The Davao River Project was approved in 2022, and its construction started in late 2023.

“The Chinese contractors of this project are equipped with the needed technology to make this project of high quality and finish it quickly and in a way that is cost-efficient,” Marcos said.

“This is just one of four legacy projects that we will be finishing in Davao and its environs. I congratulate the DPWH for this job, and we are looking forward to December 15,” he added. –NB, GMA Integrated News
