Ambuklao, Binga, Magat dams open gates
Three dams in Luzon — Ambuklao, Binga, and Magat — had one gate open each on Saturday morning to release water, data from PAGASA showed.
Ambuklao Dam in Benguet had one gate open at 8 a.m. at 0.3 meters, discharging water at 18 cubic meters per second (cms).
The water level in the reservoir was at 751.27 meters on Saturday morning, near the 752-meter spilling level.
Binga Dam, also in Benguet, likewise had one gate open at 0.3 meters, discharging water at 10 cms.
At 8 a.m., Binga Dam's reservoir water level (RWL) was at 574.68, quite near the 575-m spilling level.
Meanwhile, Magat Dam, which straddles the provinces of Ifugao and Isabela, had one gate open as well on Saturday morning at 2.0 m. It is discharging water at 475.33 cms.
Magat Dam's water level at its reservoir was at 186.09 meters on Saturday morning, a few meters away from the 193-m spilling level.
PAGASA said Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora will have cloudy skies with rains on Saturday due to the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan).
Flash floods or landslides may possibly result due to moderate to at times heavy rains. —KG, GMA Integrated News
