Ambuklao, Binga, Magat dam gates remain open —PAGASA


One gate each of the Ambuklao, Binga, and Magat dams in Luzon remained open to release excess water on Monday morning, according to weather bureau PAGASA. 

As of 8 a.m. on Monday, data from PAGASA showed Ambuklao Dam in Bokod, Benguet had one gate open at 0.3 meters, releasing water at 59.85 cubic meters per second (cms).

Binga Dam in Itogon, Benguet also had one gate open at 0.5 meter that discharges water at 87.75 cms.

Meanwhile, Magat Dam, which straddles the provinces of Isabela and Ifugao, had one gate open at 1 meter, releasing excess water at 383.06 cms.

The gates had been open since Saturday, December 6, 2025.

According to PAGASA, rains may continue to persist over parts of the country on Monday.

A low pressure area (LPA) that was formerly Tropical Depression Wilma may bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over MIMAROPA and Western Visayas. 

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms may prevail over Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Aurora, and Quezon due to a shear line.

Meanwhile, the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) may cast cloudy skies with rains over Metro Manila, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and the rest of Central Luzon, while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains were forecast for the Ilocos Region.

The Bicol Region may experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to easterlies.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may prevail over Mindanao and the rest of Visayas due to localized thunderstorms. —Sundy Locus/KG, GMA Integrated News
