NDRRMC: Over 130K affected by Wilma, Amihan, shear line
More than 130,000 persons have been affected by the combined effects of Tropical Depression Wilma, the northeast monsoon (Amihan), and the shear line, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Monday.
The latest situation report showed that 57,594 families, or 132,849 people from 16 provinces in six regions, were affected by the weather conditions.
The NDRRMC noted that 22,672 individuals were also displaced.
A total of 31 areas were also flooded in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga.
There were no fatalities or injured individuals recorded, according to the NDRRMC’s data.
Further, three partially damaged houses were logged.The NDRRMC said that P885,290 worth of assistance has been provided so far to the affected families.
Wilma weakened into a low-pressure area (LPA) on Sunday morning after it affected parts of the Visayas.
As of Monday morning, the LPA that was formerly Wilma remains inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. –Vince Angelo Ferreras/NB, GMA Integrated News
