2 boys trapped by swollen creek in Zamboanga rescued

Two male minors were rescued after getting stranded on a large rock in the middle of a creek in Zamboanga City.

According to GMA Regional TV’s Sarah Hilomen-Velasco in Balitanghali on Tuesday, the boys clung to a rope tied to a nearby tree as strong currents swept through the creek.

A barangay official waded through the rushing water to reach and pull them to safety.

Authorities later learned that an 18-year-old companion had managed to get out of the creek earlier.

Barangay officials said the water level rose suddenly due to rain in the upland areas.—Vince Angelo Ferreras/MCG, GMA Integrated News
