Man back in jail after taking family hostage in Lapu-Lapu City
A newly released inmate is back in police custody after taking his partner and son hostage in Lapu Lapu, Cebu, according to Lou-anne Mae Rondina’s Tuesday report on “24 Oras.”
The suspect was convinced to surrender himself after talking to barangay officials.
Meanwhile, his 21-year-old son was taken to the hospital after sustaining wounds on his stomach, arm, and chin.
Authorities recovered a butcher knife from the suspect.
Based on the Lapu-Lapu police investigation, the suspect was released on December 1 after serving eight years in prison for an illegal drug-related offense.
The suspect admitted that he had used illegal drugs twice before taking his family hostage.
He said he regretted his actions and asked forgiveness from his son.
