Over P1.8M worth of illegal cooking oil seized in Oriental Mindoro
Authorities seized over P1.8 million worth of alleged illegal cooking oil in Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Wednesday.
In a social media post, the PNP said the arrested male suspect is an employee of a private corporation.
He was nabbed on Thursday, December 4, in Barangay Sta. Rita for allegedly selling unregistered cooking oil, in violation of the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009.
Authorities seized 43 packages containing 2,615 bottles of unregistered cooking oil.
The Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009 prohibits the manufacture, importation, sale, or distribution of any health or food product without the proper permit, as products that have not undergone proper evaluation may pose health risks.
The police has urged the public to be cautious and report any suspicious activities related to counterfeiting or the illegal sale of consumer products to authorities. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
