Justice sought for dog beaten to death in Mt. Province

Justice is being sought for Axle, an American Bully dog who was beaten to death by a man in Barangay Saclit in Sandanga, Mountain Province.

According to the report of GMA Regional TV’s Sendee Salvacio in “24 Oras” on Wednesday, the viral video showed the suspect hit the dog several times with a wooden stick in front of several people.

Axle tried to escape but was chased by the man ran who brutally struck the hapless dog to death.

The man claimed the dog urinated on him.

Sandanga Mayor Robert Wanawan condemned the incident. But he noted that some locals believe that it is bad luck when a dog pees on people, which could have triggered the suspect.

“We have a belief that when a dog peed on you, it could be a sign of bad luck or death. It could be out of anger that the man killed the dog,” Wanawan said.

An animal cruelty-related charge has been filed against the suspect.

The Animal Kingdom Foundation, on the other hand, sought for immediate action from the local government regarding the incident.

“I ordered the (Sangguniang Bayan) to craft a resolution that will act on those kinds of situations,” the mayor said.
