Mandaue City gov’t honors fur mom who saved dogs from building fire

The Mandaue City government recognized a woman for her bravery in rescuing her dogs amid a fire in Barangay Guizo on December 10.

During its regular session on Tuesday, the Mandaue City Council lauded Ei Mei Lee Chiu-Maningo for saving her dogs, Miyah and Kayen, by throwing them from the third floor of a burning building to people waiting below.

After the two dogs were rescued, the woman went down the building by a ladder safely.

In a resolution of Councilor Jen Del Mar, the Council applauded Maningo’s calm demeanor and decision-making during the fire and acknowledged her acts of empathy and courage in the face of danger.

Mandaue Mayor Thadeo Ouano also honored Maningo’s love for her dogs.

In a statement, Maningo reminded the public of responsible pet ownership.

She said pet owners must be sensitive to what the animals may feel, as pets are unaware of their owners’ feelings.

“Let us be responsible kay ang pets nato, they don’t have a way of saying unsa ilang na-feel, so we must be responsible enough and compassionate enough nga i-take care gyud atong mga alaga,” she said.
