Woman nabbed for snatching necklace inside church in Ilocos Sur

A 56-year-old woman went straight to jail after police arrested her for snatching a necklace from a 76-year-old woman inside a church in San Juan, Ilocos Sur, shortly after the Misa de Gallo, or dawn mass, on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

Police said the incident happened around 5:40 a.m. at a church in Barangay Lira. The victim was already leaving the church when she felt someone pull her necklace suddenly.

The victim immediately asked help from police officers who were on duty in the area. Officers caught the suspect quickly.

Police recovered a 24-karat gold necklace worth about ?50,000 from the suspect.

The suspect has not given a statement and will face charges. — GMA Regional TV
