BRP Emilio Jacinto conducts maritime patrol, test fire off Zambales
The Philippine Navy’s Northern Luzon Naval Command (NLNC) last week conducted a maritime patrol and test fire of its 76 mm OTO Melara gun in the vicinity of Los Frailes Island, Zambales.
The NLNC’s maritime patrol and test fire was conducted aboard the BRP Emilio Jacinto (PS35), led by CDR Joseph Dimayuga.
“During the patrol, PS35 maintained heightened maritime domain awareness while monitoring vessel movements and engaging in presence operation in key sea lanes, particularly in areas vulnerable to transnational maritime threats,” the Philippine Navy said in a statement on Sunday.
“Meanwhile, the conduct of test fire is to ensure the operability, accuracy, and effective operation of the 76MM Oto Melara Gun as well as to amplify the operator’s skill proficiency,” it added.
The Philippine Navy said the NLNC, through BRP Emilio Jacinto, will continue its monitoring of Filipino fisherfolks in the disputed West Philippine Sea. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
