LTO probes viral Bulacan road rage incident
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has launched an investigation into a viral road rage incident in Bulacan by issuing a show-cause order against the driver and the registered owner of the alleged government vehicle.
In a statement on Tuesday, the LTO said video footage showed the vehicle’s driver exhibiting "violent behavior" by throwing a bicycle along a public road in Barangay Paliwas, Obando, Bulacan.
“Ang naturang insidente ay nagdulot ng panganib sa kaligtasan ng iba pang mga motorista at publiko na maituturing na paglabag sa umiiral na mga batas at regulasyon sa trapiko,” the statement read.
(The incident endangered the safety of other motorists and the public and may be considered a violation of existing traffic laws and regulations.)
The driver and the vehicle owner were ordered to appear before the LTO’s Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) on January 5.
They are required to submit a verified or sworn comment explaining why they should not be charged with reckless driving and allowing an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
Meanwhile, the vehicle in the viral video, which appeared to be an ambulance, has been temporarily placed under alarm, while the driver’s license will undergo a 90-day preventive suspension.—MCG, GMA Integrated News
