PNP to deploy over 2,000 cops for Duterte family’s Christmas gift-giving

More than 2,000 policemen will be deployed during the annual Christmas gift-giving activity of the Duterte family in Bangkal, Davao City, on December 25, police officials said.

According to Super Radyo Davao’s John Ryan Calonia on Tuesday, the Davao City Police said authorities have been preparing for the event, as thousands of people from various areas are expected to attend.

The police will start deploying personnel at the Duterte family’s ancestral house on Christmas Eve, December 24, as some visitors are expected to arrive early for the activity.

Vice President Sara Duterte earlier said the family tradition will continue this year despite the situation of her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is currently detained at Scheveningen Prison in The Hague.

Last November, Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo “Pulong” Duterte continued the family tradition during the Undas season, distributing food to visitors at their grandparents’ mausoleum in the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Davao City.—Vince Angelo Ferreras/MCG, GMA Integrated News
