Batangas Port passenger terminal fee to increase starting Jan. 2026 —PPA

Outbound passengers using Batangas Port will have to pay more for the terminal fee starting January 1, 2026.

According to a "24 Oras" report by Mariz Umali, the Philippine Ports Authority approved the petition of the Asian Terminal Inc. for the hike in two tranches: P60 from P30 starting January 1, 2026, and P90 from P60 beginning July 2026.

"Kita niyo naman na lumaki, naging mas maganda ang Batangas Port. Walan naman kasing increase sa terminal fee over the past 15 years (It got bigger, there were improvements.  We didn't have any increase over the past 15 years)," said Doan Bustamante of the Asian Terminals Inc.

Certain sectors may still be exempt from the terminal fee.

Passengers continue to flock to the port amid the holiday exodus.

Since December 13, port authorities said passengers using the port reached 177,000.

Passengers are advised against bringing prohibited items, and to be at the port earlier than their scheduled trip.

Port officials also warned against dealing with "fixers" who ask for as much as P2,000 to allow one's vehicle to be ahead of the others in the queue.

Meanwhile, the report said that some passengers experienced wait times at Matnog Port in Sorsogon because vessels are taking a longer time to return to the port because there were fewer passengers.—LDF, GMA Integrated News
