3 Luzon dams open gates to release water
Three dams opened one gate each early Wednesday morning to release water amid the effects of the Northeast Monsoon and the easterlies, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.
In a hydrological situationer issued at 9 a.m., PAGASA said that the Ambuklao Dam opened one gate at 0.3 meters, releasing 33 cubic meters per second (cms) of water as of 8 a.m., which may affect Barangay Ambuclao, Benguet.
Meanwhile, the Binga Dam also opened one gate at 0.3 meters, discharging 38 cms of water, which is likely to affect Barangays Dalupirip and Tinongdan, Benguet.
Aside from this, the Ipo Dam opened one gate at 1 meter, releasing 114.50 cms of water.
PAGASA said that the municipalities of Norzagaray, Angat, San Rafael, Bustos, Baliuag, Pulilan, Plaridel, Calumpit, Hagonoy, and Paombong are likely to be affected.
The bureau advised residents and local disaster risk reduction and management councils to take precautionary measures.
Meanwhile, all gates of the Angat dam were closed as of December 23.
PAGASA earlier said that the Northeast Monsoon and easterlies will bring cloudy skies with light rains in parts of the country on Christmas Eve.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
