Kanlaon Volcano spews ash; Alert Level 2 still up —PHIVOLCS
A weak ash emission was reported in Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island on Friday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.
In a Facebook post with time-lapse footage of the event, PHIVOLCS said the volcano’s summit crater spewed ash from 6:27 a.m. to 10:11 a.m.
“Ash emission has ended at 10:11 AM today, 26 December 2025...Time-lapse footage of ongoing weak ash emission from the Kanlaon Volcano summit crater that began 06:27 AM today, 26 December 2025,” it said.
“This event generated grayish plumes that rose to 400 meters above the crater before drifting southwest, as captured by IP camera at Kanlaon Volcano Observatory–Canlaon City (KVO-CC) stations,” it added.
Alert Level 2 remains over Kanlaon Volcano, which means there is an increased unrest. Sudden steam-driven or phreatic eruptions may occur in the volcano.
Under Alert Level 2, entry into the four-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) and the flying of any aircraft close to the volcano are prohibited. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
