2 persons hit by stray bullets in Iloilo, Bacolod

Two individuals were injured in stray bullet incidents in Iloilo and Bacolod City.

A female victim who was injured by a bullet when a man fired his gun in Pavia, Iloilo, is currently recuperating in the hospital, according to a "24 Oras" report on Friday.

Barangay officials claim that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol.

Meanwhile, a male victim in Bacolod City suffered injuries in the thigh and hands after he was hit by a stray bullet during a drinking session.

Police are now investigating the incident.

Data from the Philippine National Police (PNP) showed at least one death so far due to a stray bullet.

Seven suspects have been arrested so far for indiscriminate firing, with four of the suspects being police officers themselves.

Earlier, National Police Commission vice chairperson and executive officer Rafael Vicente Calinisan had said that any police officer found to have indiscriminately fired their guns amid the holiday season will be held accountable regardless of whether it was sealed or not.

The PNP warned that a one-strike policy will be enforced against both police personnel and gun owners who will be indiscriminately firing their firearms during the holidays. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
