Over 12,500 individuals affected by Typhoon Tino in Palawan, earthquake in Cebu receive aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation

Over 12,500 individuals affected by Typhoon Tino in Palawan and the earthquake in Cebu received help from GMA Kapuso Foundation.

As seen in Mel Tiangco's report in "24 Oras" on Monday, through the Operation Bayanihan, the foundation visited the families who are still recovering from the devastation of Tino.

Among the affected is Benjamin Gacot Jr. from El Nido, whose cashew trees were heavily damaged by the typhoon.

"Liliit ang kita… ewan ko kung umabot ito ng limang libo. Hintay po tayo ng tatlong taon bago mapakinabangan ulit ng marami," Benjamin said.

Another affected resident is Nilda Traquina, a resident of Barangay Catabangan in Taytay town, who had to climb up a mango tree to survive the flooding.

"Nag-aagawan pa kami sa lubid para makatulay diyan. Malakas na talaga ang agos niya. Laking pasalamat namin, na nabuhay kami," Nilda said.

Meanwhile, in Cebu, Maricel Mercader is still traumatized by the aftermath of the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that struck the province in September. One of her children was almost trapped when their house collapsed.

"Trauma na trauma po ako hanggang ngayon kasi po buhay ng anak ko ang nakataya doon," she shared.

Before the year ended, GMA Kapuso Foundation's Operation Bayanihan reached out to communities affected by the typhoon and earthquake.

In Palawan, residents of Taytay, Roxas, and El Nido received food packs and water following the devastation caused by Typhoon Tino.

In Cebu, on the other hand, relief goods, including food packs, hygiene kits, and emergency supplies were distributed to residents of Barangay Dalingding Sur in Medellin to aid those impacted by the earthquake.

For those who are interested in helping, GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
