3 killed in Meycauayan, Bulacan carnage - report

MANILA, Philippines - A 78-year-old man and his two sons were repeatedly stabbed dead in yet another carnage, this time in Meycauayan City in Bulacan province late Friday night. Radio dzBB reported that robbery was being eyed as the likely motive for the crime. Authorities have taken into custody a man who allegedly helped the suspect escape. The victims were initially identified as Eladio Peña, 78; and sons Renato, 48; and Luisito, 42, who were killed while asleep in their house in Ubihan village in Meycauayan. Police are now tracking down the suspect, initially identified as Renato Arando, 42, who was suspected to be high on drugs when he killed the three. Radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported that police have taken into custody one Hermino Alcanar, 52, who allegedly helped the suspect escape by lending him a motorized banca. The report cited initial police investigation that the suspect got inside the victims' house by passing through its back entrance. The report said two of the victims died while being rushed to the Gregorio del Pilar District Hospital. Luisito died while undergoing treatment. - GMANews.TV
