Fire razes 8 firecracker stalls after man test item in Barili, Cebu
A fire broke out and destroyed at least eight stalls selling firecrackers in Barili, Cebu, after a buyer tested an item.
According to a “Saksi” report on Monday, successive explosions were heard while the stalls were seen burning past 9 p.m. on Sunday.
Based on the investigation of the Bureau of Fire Protection, two men bought a triangle, a type of firecracker from one of the stalls.
The blaze started after one of them lit it and threw it at a Judas Belt, which is composed of firecrackers tied to each other.
The fire was extinguished after 10 minutes.
The two men fled, but they left their motorcycle behind.
Firecracker vendors said they followed the regulations to ensure safe selling of fireworks. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BAP, GMA Integrated News
