Tourists flock to Baguio, Boracay for New Year 2026

In anticipation of New Year 2026 celebrations, tourists continued to arrive at popular vacation spots such as the Boracay in the Visayas and Baguio City in the Cordilleras on early Wednesday morning.

According to Kim Salinas' report on Unang Balita, tourists were welcomed with live music upon arrival at the Cagban Jetty Port in Malay, Aklan.

Meanwhile, some families took advantage of the good weather to go for a swim at Boracay's famed beaches.

Based on data from the local government, up to 8,000 tourists have been arriving daily since the weekend, a number that is expected to increase in the coming days.

Amid the influx, the local government has established an incident management team to ensure cleanliness and safety in Boracay during the celebrations.

Tourists may also expect a fireworks display on New Year's Eve.

"Ang mas maganda kasi both sides ng isla may fireworks so maganda, spectacular ang ibibigay sa December 31. At the same time, may final countdown din. Sa ating enthusiasts, mag-enjoy sa mga party sa Boracay during this New Year's Eve," Malay Mayor Floribar Bautista said, as translated in the report.
