New Year baby born in Mandaue City
A New Year baby was born in Mandaue City.
Cindy Alinsunod, the baby’s mother, was set to deliver by January 11, 2026 yet, but her labor contractions went intense at about 2 a.m. on January 1.
Alinsunod said that earlier, she is among revelers on New Year’s Eve dancing and joining the parlor games.
“Mada pa'g sayaw-sayaw uy, mada pa'g wiggle-wiggle sa coins kay palihi lagi ana, unya wa ko magtuo nga mao na diay to after 2 a.m.,” Alinsunod said.
She gave birth to a baby girl at a “paanakan” (birthing center) in Barangay Tipolo at around 8 a.m.
The baby weighs about three kilograms and is Alinsunod's second child with partner, Joe Omblero.
Omblero rejoices at the sight of his baby girl considered as a gift that comes unexpectedly on a New Year’s Day.
He cited that had the baby been born a day later, it would have coincided on his birthday.
“Blessed kay natunong gyud nga pirmerong adlaw sa tuig. Salamat gihapon bisan wala matunong sa akong birthday. [Reporter: Ang imo birthday kay?] January 2," Omblero said.
Omblero said he looks forward to celebrating the next New Years and birthday celebrations all in one.
"Malipayon kay nakita na nako akong unang liwat nga babaye, prinsesa, oo pares na ba,” Omblero said.
Staff members of the birthing clinic said they share in the happiness of the couple.
“Ma-excited gyud mi Sir, kay naay New Year babies, Sir. Kada New Year naa jud mi," said Arada Cailo, midwife at St. Claire Paanakan. — GMA Regional TV
