CAAP extends flight ban near Mayon, Kanlaon
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has extended the flight ban around two of the country's active volcanoes--Mayon in Albay and Kanlaon in Negros Island—until Tuesday, January 6, due to the risk of sudden eruptions.
According to a 24 Oras report, CAAP said its Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) will remain in effect until 9 a.m. on Tuesday.
The agency added that flying near the two volcanoes, both at Alert Level 2, is strictly prohibited, as sudden eruptions could endanger aircraft.
CAAP said it continues to monitor conditions at both volcanoes.—Mariel Celine Serquiña/MCG, GMA Integrated News
