Albay health office declares Code White Alert amid Mayon Volcano Alert Level 3 status

The Albay Provincial Health Office has declared a Code White Alert effective Tuesday, January 6, 2026 hours after Mayon Volcano Alert Level was raised.

The announcement was made after DOST-PHIVOLCS announced earlier today that Mayon Volcano is under Alert Level 3.

PHIVOLCS said an Alert Level 3 for Mayon means “high level of volcanic unrest."

“Pyroclastic density currents or PDCs on the Bonga (southeast) Gully began generating at 12:26 pm today from the collapse of newly extruded lava. The PDCs lasted at least three minutes based on the seismic record and emplaced within two kilometers of the summit crater,” the state seismologists said.

"All provincial, district, and municipal hospitals, as well as rural and city health units and DRRM-H managers, are directed to remain on heightened alert, ensure preparedness, and submit necessary reports as part of coordinated health emergency readiness," the health office said.

"Continuous vigilance, close coordination, and strict compliance are enjoined to safeguard the health and safety of all Albayanons." — BAP, GMA Integrated News
