Person of interest in death of woman inside storage box surrendered — Basud police

The person of interest (POI) in the death of a woman whose body was found inside a storage box under a bridge in Basud, Camarines Norte has surrendered, the municipal police said Wednesday. 

Basud Police chief Police Captain Mark Armea said the surrender was the result of the combined efforts of law enforcement units, local officials, and the public.

“Dahil sa concerted efforts, nakumbinseng sumuko sa kapulisan ang POI ng bangkay ng babaeng isinilid sa storage box at itinapon sa tulay sa Basud,” he said in a Facebook post.

(Due to concerted efforts, the POI of the woman's body, which was placed in a storage box and thrown off the bridge in Basud.) 

The storage box containing the body of the woman was found in a river in Barangay Pinagwarasan on January 2, according to the police. 

On Tuesday, the police identified the victim as Anelis Agocoy, 38, a resident of Barangay Bura in Catarman, Camiguin after receiving a call from her friend. 

A witness was able to identify the suspect, according to the police. 

On Tuesday, the police released a composite sketch of the suspect.
