PNP nabs 2, seizes P69-M worth of shabu in Tagbilaran bust
The Philippine National Police (PNP) confiscated P69 million worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Tagbilaran City, Bohol that also led to the arrest of two suspects.
In a statement on Wednesday, the PNP said the Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO) – Police Intelligence Unit (PIU) and Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) carried out the operation at 11:06 p.m. Tuesday in Barangay Dampas.
Authorities nabbed two drug suspects – a man and a woman – in the drug bust, which also led to the seizure of 10.285 kilos of suspected shabu worth P69.942 million.
One of the arrested suspects is a high-value target, the PNP said.
The suspects and the confiscated narcotics were turned over to the Tagbilaran City Police Station for proper documentation and disposition.
Police are preparing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 against the suspects.
“This operation sends a clear message that the PNP remains firm and relentless in going after those who profit from illegal drugs. Walang puwang sa ating mga komunidad ang ganitong uri ng kriminalidad (There is no space in our communities for these kinds of crimes),” said PNP acting chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.
“Our personnel will continue to work day and night to protect the public and keep our communities safe,” he added. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
