82 families displaced by fire in Cebu City

At least 82 families or 301 individuals were displaced by a fire that hit Barangay Tejero in Cebu City morning on Saturday, January 10, 2026.

According to the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CCDRRMO), the fire affected up to 68 houses - 62 were destroyed while six others were damaged.

According to the city information office, one resident sustained injuries. The resident, Jonathan Duterte, 45, was brought to the hospital for treatment immediately.

The city’s Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS) has provided meals to the families affected and has started accounting for those considered Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

The fire was raised to second alarm and was put out with the help of teams from DRRMO, Bureau of Fire Protection, barangay fire brigades, and private fire brigades. — GMA Regional TV News
