Grade 6 student dislocates elbow in school fight in Antique

A Grade 6 male student dislocated his left elbow after a fight with a fellow student inside their school in Bugasong, Antique.

According to a report by GMA Regional TV’s Aileen Pedreso on “24 Oras” on Monday, a video showed a student identified as “Manny” strangling another student, “Jay-ar,” on January 7.

When another student intervened to pacify the situation, “Jay-ar” remained on the classroom floor and appeared to be having difficulty moving.

The mother of “Jay-ar” said someone allegedly kicked “Manny,” who then took out his anger on her son.

“He strangled my son while he was pleading for him to stop,” she said.

The incident occurred while the teacher was not in the classroom.

“Jay-ar” was taken to a hospital in San Jose and is set to undergo a medical procedure due to a bone fracture.

The parents of both students are expected to meet, according to the report.

The mother also said that before the incident, her son had already complained that “Manny” had hurt him in the past.

“He punched my son, but we didn’t bother because we thought it was just a simple fight between kids,” she said.

The Bugasong Municipal Police Station is investigating the incident. An anti-bullying lecture has also been conducted for the class section involved.

Meanwhile, the school principal and the Bugasong district supervisor were ordered by the Schools Division of Antique to submit a report.

A grievance committee has been formed to investigate the incident, and the children involved will undergo intervention.

“We will conduct psychological first aid for the children, not only for the victim but also for the other children involved,” said Schools Division of Antique Superintendent Ernesto Servillon Jr.
