Barangay chief nabbed in Iloilo drug buy-bust

An incumbent barangay chief was arrested in an anti-illegal drug operation in Barangay Devera in Sara, Iloilo. 

According to the report of Super Radyo Iloilo’s Sevein Hope Gegantoca on Thursday, the 39-year-old suspect is a resident of Barangay Tuble in San Dionisio and is considered a high-value individual by police. 

Authorities said that verification took a month after receiving information from the residents that the barangay chief is connected to illegal drug activities. 

Investigation showed that the illegal drugs involved originated from the town of Estancia and has proliferated in Sara and nearby towns. 

The suspect is now under police custody and will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
