39 ‘fixers’ nabbed in LTO ops around Metro Manila
A total of 39 “fixers” were arrested around Metro Manila in what was described as a "one-time-big-time" operation launched by the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
According to a report in “Saksi” on Thursday, the operation was conducted in 58 LTO branches in Metro Manila.
The “fixers” were arrested after some LTO personnel posed as civilians transacting with them. The “fixers” allegedly charged between P500 and P1,000, depending on the traffic violation.
The arrested individuals will face charges for violation of the Ease of Doing Business Act.
Further, the agency said its operation against fixers will be done on a regular basis.
The LTO said it will also determine who are the accomplices of the fixers within its organization.
The agency’s regional offices will also be cleared out of erring employees, the report also said. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
