1 dead, 4 injured after shuttle bus veers off in Baguio City
A 63-year-old woman died after being struck by an electric shuttle bus that lost control at Camp John Hay in Baguio City.
According to a 24 Oras Weekend report on Saturday, the bus was traveling up Scout Hill Road at around 3 p.m. on Friday when it lost control and suddenly swerved to the left.
The vehicle hit a group of pedestrians, instantly killing the 63-year-old and injuring four others.
Meanwhile, the five passengers on board the bus were unharmed.
Baguio City police said the 52-year-old driver of the shuttle bus is currently in custody and may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple physical injuries.
The local government and the John Hay Management Corporation said they would assist the victims.
The corporation added that it is cooperating with the police and the shuttle bus operator in the ongoing investigation.—Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/MCG, GMA Integrated News
