Cops nab man who shot woman during livestreaming in Rizal

The police arrested the suspect behind the shooting of a 23-year-old woman while she was hosting a livestreaming video online last January 16 in Barangay Sta. Ana, Taytay, Rizal.

The Taytay Municipal Police Station said the victim was shot on the head by the suspect who was wearing a face mask and a ballcap.

The victim slumped over instantly and was rushed by witnesses to the nearest hospital, having sustained  a grazing bullet wound to the nape, the police added.

Witnesses said the suspect fled on a motorcycle after the crime.

The 31-year-old suspect was immediately arrested the following day, January 17, in the town of Angono. Investigation showed he was a former live-in partner of the victim’s employer.

(Police investigation revealed that the suspect is the former partner of the store owner where the victim is employed. The dispute between the suspect and his partner, which led to their breakup, was allegedly triggered by the victim reporting the suspect’s other romantic involvements.)

(Following the separation, the former couple divided their assets, and the management of the store was handed over to the victim. The suspect was reportedly unable to accept this arrangement, which drove him to commit the act.)

The suspect is now detained at the Taytay Municipal Police Station Custodial Facility and is facing charges of frustrated murder.

According to EJ Gomez’s report in “24 Oras Weekend,” the suspect denied shooting the victim. However, he noted that he was not angry at the victim for telling his former partner about his cheating.

(I visited her husband in the afternoon to pay him. My face cannot be seen. I cannot do that to her. I’ve grown fond of that kid.)

Meanwhile, the victim is already safe and still recovering in a hospital in Pasig City.
