Chinese, 52, nabbed in Zamboanga Sibugay for working without visa
A 52-year-old Chinese national was arrested on Tuesday in Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay for allegedly working as a manager at a business establishment without the required permits.
The foreigner was collared by units of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Immigration (BI), and the 106th Infantry Battalion.
He was arrested by virtue of a BI mission order dated January 14 for allegedly working as a manager for an establishment without a working visa issued by the BI.
In a statement, the PNP said the foreign national was informed of his constitutional rights in a language that he fully understood.
He is now under the custody of the PNP’s Regional Intelligence Operations Unit – Mindanao Intelligence Division for proper legal disposition.
“Violations of the law will not be ignored. This operation shows that we are serious about upholding justice,” said PNP acting chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.
Nartatez assured that the PNP’s operations are “guided by intelligence and evidence to ensure the safety and security of the public.”
“Ang sinumang lalabag sa batas ay may pananagutan. Kailangang ipatupad ang batas para sa kaayusan ng ating komunidad,” he said, adding that the arrest is part of the PNP’s firm commitment to enforce immigration laws.
