Magnitude 5.3 earthquake hits offshore Sultan Kudarat

A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck the waters offshore Sultan Kudarat on Wednesday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

The quake, which was tectonic in origin, struck at 9:33 a.m. at a depth of 10 km., it said.

The epicenter was located at 06.39°N, 123.72°E - 040 km S 63° W of the municipality of Kalamansig.

Intensity IV was felt in Lebak, Sultan Kudarat, according to instruments.

No aftershocks and no damage are expected, PHIVOLCS said. —KG, GMA Integrated News
