3 hurt as caterpillar ride derailed in Santa Maria, Bulacan
At least three people were injured after a caterpillar ride derailed at an amusement fair in Santa Maria, Bulacan.
According to Dano Tingcungco’s Thursday report on “24 Oras,” the police said a four-year-old boy and a 30-year-old woman were one of the cars of the caterpillar ride when it derailed and they were thrown off.
The car then hit a 47-year-old man who was standing near the ride.
The boy and the man were discharged from the hospital after receiving medical treatment.
Meanwhile, the woman remains in the hospital awaiting the results of a CT scan.
The ride’s operator and owner declined to comment on the matter.
According to the police, the ride’s owner and victims came into an agreement after the former promised to shoulder all their medical expenses.
The Santa Maria local government has temporarily suspended the amusement fair’s operations to investigate the safety measures of its rides.
It was also reported that Caterpillar ride involved in the incident was manually operated.
The operator cannot explain why it sped up when the operator was slowing it down.
