PNP: Parcel with P6.15M of suspected kush seized at Clark
Authorities recently intercepted a parcel containing P6.15 million worth of suspected kush at the Clark Freeport Zone in Mabalacat City, Pampanga, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Sunday.
In a statement, the PNP said the parcel was flagged at the cargo area of the Clark Freeport Zone on January 23 at 8 a.m. during routine X-ray screening.
The Clark Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (CRK-IADITG), as well as personnel from the PNP and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), responded promptly to the incident.
The PDEA used a narcotic detection dog to confirm the presence of suspected illegal drugs, leading to a detailed examination and initial inventory at 11:30 a.m.
The seized parcel was declared as a polyester rug runner reversible and contained a large cylinder-shaped cardboard with two small brown rug rolls and three large black plastic bags.
Each black bag held three large transparent plastic packs containing suspected hybrid cannabis kush with a total weight of 4.11 kilos. The PDEA took samples for confirmatory laboratory tests.
The parcel was shipped on January 14 by a sender from Lake Avenue, California and was consigned to a male private recipient at Gulod Malaya in San Mateo, Rizal.
The PDEA later confiscated the parcel pending the results of laboratory tests.
“This operation proves that joint vigilance can stop illegal drugs from entering our communities. Every interception keeps our citizens safe,” said PNP acting chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.
“We will continue to strengthen operations so that no illegal shipment goes undetected. The public’s safety is our priority,” he added. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
