Bus crash kills motorcycle-riding cop in Naga, Cebu

A police officer was killed after an oncoming bus struck his motorcycle in Barangay Inoburan, Naga City, Cebu.

According to a report by Balitanghali on Tuesday, the crash occurred after a car suddenly stopped, causing a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) behind it to collide with it.

The bus, which was traveling behind the MPV, tried to swerve to avoid the collision but hit a motorcycle that was traveling in the opposite lane.

The victim, a member of the Highway Patrol Group Region 7, was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.

Authorities said appropriate charges will be filed against the bus driver, who has yet to provide a statement.

Meanwhile, the drivers of the MPV and the first car involved reportedly settled the matter among themselves.

Dashcam footage from one of the cars showed that the sedan in front had also stopped suddenly. Authorities are now looking for the driver of that vehicle.—Vince Angelo Ferreras/MCG, GMA Integrated News
