PCG suspends trips for small vessels in northern Quezon
The Coast Guard Station Northern Quezon has suspended the trips for small vessels on Sunday morning, February 8 due to rough seas as an effect of the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan.
Citing PAGASA’s weather forecast issued at 11 a.m., the Coast Guard cited noted the strong to gale force winds associated with Amihan are expected to affect the northern coast of Quezon (General Nakar) including the northern and eastern coasts of Polillo Islands (Panukulan, Burderos, and Patnanungan).
“In this regard, all trips of vessel and small crafts with 250 Gross Tonnages and below plying the route within the abovementioned areas of Northern Quezon are hereby Temporarily Suspended,” the advisory read.
“However, may resume anytime when weather/sea conditions permit as may be declared by DOST – PAGASA.”
According to the 24-hour weather forecast issued at 4 p.m., the Northeast Monsoon is expected to bring cloudy skies with rains over CALABARZON, Cagayan Valley, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Aurora, Metro Manila, and the Cordillera Administrative Region. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
