Man, 67, nabbed in Cagayan for over 200 sex-related charges
A 67-year-old man was arrested in Allacapan, Cagayan over the weekend for over 200 sex-related criminal charges filed before a Cagayan court, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.
In a statement on Sunday, the PNP said the Allacapan Police Station and other police units served an arrest warrant dated February 3 against the suspect last Friday.
The arrest warrant – issued by the Cagayan Regional Trial Court Branch 33 in Ballesteros – covered 105 counts of qualified rape, 105 counts of sexual assault, and three counts of acts of lasciviousness.
“This operation demonstrates the PNP’s resolve to act decisively against perpetrators who prey on the most vulnerable. Hindi kami magpapatinag sa aming tungkulin na protektahan ang bawat Pilipino, lalo na ang mga bata (We will not waver in our duty to protect each Filipino, especially children),” PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said.
The suspect, a resident of Allacapan, is now in the custody of the Allacapan Police Station for proper documentation and court disposition.
Nartatez urged the public to be vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.
“Ang layunin natin ay protektahan ang bawat Pilipino at panatilihing ligtas ang ating mga komunidad, lalo na ang mga bata. Ang tulong at pakikiisa ng publiko ay mahalaga upang masiguro ang mabilis at epektibong aksyon ng kapulisan,” he said.
